Discipline and notice

Goss, a chance to speak, and growing process with the penalty.

Goss v. Lopez (1975) said a short public-school suspension still needs notice of the charges and, if denied, an explanation and a chance to tell the student’s side.

Longer removals pick up more state and local procedure. Disability-education statutes can add another track.

Get the exact rule cited. Write times and witnesses the same day. Ask whether the meeting is informal or a hearing. Do not sign what you do not understand.
